Rhian sang with Geoff this time, renditions of the new album "Goodbye to all that," classics. Doubling up on vocals for a change, the two felt more able to communicate with the receptive, incredibly welcoming audience. (This was by no means "the monster," audience of the festival! saying that, Outroads really didn't experience any of the atrocities....how dare you whistle?....thrown at previous entrants.)
"Hold," was of course part of this 8 song set. Lighters out, people sat up and recognised the song from the endless tv coverage. Quite a sight. Very moving.
Completing the set with "Amigo Mio," Outroads enjoyed an intimate, well received gig. All cds sold, made all the more gratifying by the fact that this was in the Southern hemisphere! Beautiful!

Following Outroads were insanely infectious Brazilian band. With a justly deserved reputation as "One of South America's finest," these boys pumped out ludicrously up-lifting balls of sunshine that refused to be sat through. Not one person remained seated.....quite amusing actually, the contrast between those that dance as they breathe, and those slightly awkward English folk gyrating as inconspicuously as possible. Hehe. Brilliant. Energy over-load, high-on-life-ness down to a fine art.

WANRNING!!

FAULT:If you would like to buy our new album please click on the "shop" sign on the opening page of our website as clicking on the album link inside the website is faulty. thanks

Si usted quisiera comprar nuestro Аlbum nuevo por favor chasque encendido la muestra de la "tienda" en la pАgina de la abertura de nuestro Web site como chascar encendido el acoplamiento del Аlbum dentro del Web site es gracias culpables

HOLA FROM CHILE!

Wow...Wow..Wow.. is all we could say the first, second and third time we saw the size of the stage we were playing. Its got to be bigger than wembley!! What the hell are WE doing HERE??!!! It is incredible.. the most serreal experience anyone could possibly have! Imagine, walking out of your hotel, surrounded by security guards and being mobbed by teenagers for autographs as Franz Ferdinand walk past (playing tomorrow night). Its like one of those TV shows.. We are truly famous for a week! There is full coverage of the whole festival with Live TV interviews and photos at the festival website www.canal13.cl check it out to see just how big it is. We have more TV shows, interviews and gigs this week so we'll bring home as much footage as possible (mostly care of our own camera man of the 'BBC' Mr Shrappers) to prove to you (and me) that this was actually real!
Aside from the fame!?!? we have been spoilt with complements on the song from the other entrants from all over the world who should, and mostly are, famous in their own countries. We are singing along side stars and Rhian sang like one in both performances in front of a monsterous 50,000 faces and apparently literally millions of TV viewers. Here's another Wow for good luck!

THE WHITE LION - 9Th Feb 06

What a gig! Some of these songs you've heard before, but not like this. Having listened to the un-mixed version, I would confidently describe it in the same way that I would a brilliantly made film. The direction is superb, the intro pulls you in, and right away, you know it's going to be a good 'un. It takes you on a satisfying journey via a channel which could be depicted as almost an epic sound-track....magical, gutteral, moving and complete..from start to finish. Couldn't quite figure out what the organisers had in mind...

First up an acoustic duo; female vocals, male acoustic guitar. Sounded like a mix of fairly old (60's/70's) familiar covers and possibly originals scattered here and there. Unfortunately not a great crowd to make these two feel loved, went down pretty well considering.

Outroads played as if to a much much fuller audience. By this stage (around 9.30pm on a Wednesday night) the crowd had swelled to a massive 25, maybe 30 people. It seems nothing will get these vipers out mid-week of a chilly Sheffield evening.
But.....believe it or not, Outroads sold every album!! Impressive to say the least. The sound wasn't the best I have to say, which makes the latter all the more gob-smacking.

BBC Radio Sheffield

New album track 'Brother' got air time on BBC Radio Sheffield today. No matter, the place was packed, and rightly so. The four acts supporting Outroads at the Lescar were quality.
The gorgeous Sarah Jay (Massive Attack) with Dougie, Baby Long Legs winning everyone over with their bonkers, totally addictive and strangely moving music. Sean Mack braving the stage alone, belting out his acoustic gems. And warming up the night, Richard Weston and Rhian Walsh, experimenting with a really, really expensive guitar. Class.
Outroads were watching the clock a tad, but thanks to some last minute engineering (what a legend) and a more than up-for-it crowd, they managed to perform the songs we all want to hear. Lizz pulled out some corkers from her bag of tricks, and despite the muffin-spewing, the band were on form...teasing and spitting and grabbing your sensitive bits as only they know how.
Nobody left dissapointed. Also the last minute gig at the Nottingham beer festival was a great craic. We only found out we were playing that morning ( a bit too late for any of us to 'have a quiet one' on Friday) so it could've gone badly wrong but thanks to Billy 'Sir' O' Blagger outroads played a great (if quiet) gig to over 1400 people and sold out of CD's.., again. If anyone from that gig wanted a CD on the night but couldn't get one, please check the home page of www.outroads.co.uk for details on mail order merchandise.

outroads - lantern theatre

outroads diary

outroads have just finished a weekend of true rock and roll touring.. piled in the back of a transit van without windows or oxogen they conquered crowds in Manchester, London then Swindon.
